Bluff View Christian School knows you want to be aware of the steps we are taking to ensure your child's health and safety during this pandemic.
Whereas physical safety from the virus is very important to us, the School Board and staff also value the physical, social, and emotional benefits of normal and healthy childhood/adolescent interaction. Therefore, after discussing the benefits and challenges of having COVID-19 protocols in place while keeping the students’ holistic well-being in mind, we have decided to cooperate with our local health departments by upholding those things that are required of us. The requirements are as follow:
- The school must report suspected and confirmed COVID-19 (and all other reportable diseases, outbreaks, unusual occurrences) to the health department as specified under Michigan Administrative Code R.325.173(9).
- The school must keep employees sick with or exposed to (if unvaccinated) to COVID-19 home as required by Public Act 339.
- The school must exclude children ill with communicable illness, such as COVID-19, from attending school as specified under Michigan Administrative Code R.325.175(2).
- The school must assist Local Health Department with contact tracing as specified under Michigan Administrative Code R.325.174(2).
We will also uphold more of the recommendations for school, such as ensuring proper ventilation, promoting handwashing and proper respiratory etiquette, and upholding a thorough cleaning and disinfection routine.
Students are welcome to wear face masks, but we will not require students to wear face masks at this point. We also are not going to require students to be vaccinated in order to attend Bluff View, with the understanding there may be additional requirements/exclusions in schools based on those decisions.
As we have learned over the last year and half, COVID-related decisions are fluid, and we must remain flexible and positive as changes to these policies and decisions may occur in the future as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 challenge.
We are reminded that the Lord has never left us nor forsaken us. He placed His mighty hand of protection over our school last year, and we were able to enjoy face-to-face, in-person school for the vast majority of the school year. I encourage you to join us in claiming the promise in 1 John 5:14, 15 which says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” The School Board and staff (along with many of you I’m sure) have been praying for an amazing 2022-23 school year – spiritually, physically, academically, socially, and emotionally. We are praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit; that our young people will know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and surrender their hearts to Him. What’s awesome, is that God desires to answer that prayer more than any other! So, no matter what daggers the enemy throws at us this year, we, as a Bluff View family, will cling to God’s promises and have assurance that He will protect us in order to fulfill his promises.
